What are Alice credentials #

Alice is the portal of the University of Pisa dedicated to future students, current students, and alumni. Alice credentials are unique and personal identifying data, consisting of a username and a password.

At the end of the registration on the portal, personal credentials are generated, which consist of a username and a password. In the context of students, the terms Alice credentials, credentials, and university credentials refer to the same credentials.

The username is formed by the initial of the first name, followed by a dot, the last name, and, when necessary, a number. For example, Mario Rossi’s username could be m.rossi15.

For users registered on the Alice portal before 2005, the username is formed by the student ID number followed by the day of birth. For example, for a student ID 108294 and a person born on the 2nd of the month, the username is 10829402.

How to obtain credentials #

Registration on the Alice portal #

To obtain the credentials, you need to access the new user registration page. Registration can be done through the ordinary procedure or by using SPID or CIE.

Ordinary Registration #

To complete the ordinary registration, it is necessary to fill in all required fields, entering personal data, personal email address, and other information required by the procedure.

At the end of the registration, an email will be sent with the subject “Registration to the Alice portal”.

1. Open the message received at the personal email address indicated during registration.
2. Select the link contained in the message to confirm the registration.

If the message is not received, it is advisable to wait a few minutes and also check the Spam or Junk folders.

After confirmation, it is possible to access the Alice portal and use the available services, for example, to register for competitions, study courses, State Exams, and assessment tests.

Registration with SPID or CIE #

To register using SPID or CIE, you need to:

1. access the new user registration page;
2. select the button for registration with SPID or CIE;
3. authenticate with SPID or CIE;
4. fill in all the required fields.

Once the registration is complete, you can access the Alice portal using SPID or CIE and use the available services on the portal.

2. Activation of other online services of the University #

The credentials obtained at the end of the registration on the Alice portal are not immediately available to access other online services of UniPi, such as the Wi-Fi network, the University Web Mail, the exam registration portal, the e-learning platforms of the Departments, and the services of the University Library System.

To enable them, it is necessary to:

1. wait for the email sent from credenziali@unipi.it with the subject “Activation of online services UNIPI”;
2. follow the instructions contained in the message;
3. change the password using the function First activation or password reset.

To carry out the procedure, it is necessary to provide the tax code and the personal email address associated with the Alice account.

The email with the subject “Activation of online services UNIPI” is sent within three days of registering on the Alice portal. If, after three days, the email has not been received, it is still possible to attempt the Password recovery procedure.

Manage username and password #

Recover username or password #

If you have lost your username or password, you can use the Password Recovery function.

Users already registered on the Alice portal must enter:

• the tax code associated with the account;
• the same personal email address provided during registration on the Alice portal.

If the email address is unknown or no longer usable, you can consult the section dedicated to the personal email address and the related frequently asked questions available on this page.

Alternatively, those with SPID or CIE can:

1. access the Identity portal using SPID or CIE;
2. open the Password Management section, available in the side menu;
3. enter the new password in the New Password and Confirm New Password fields;
4. select the Update button;
5. take note of the username displayed on the same page;
6. use the retrieved username and the new password to access the Alice portal.

Change Password #

To change the password, you can follow the same procedures indicated in the Recover Username or Password section:

• use the Password Recovery function;
• access Identity and select the Password Management section.

Personal Email Address #

The personal email address is the one provided during registration on the Alice portal. It is used for registration confirmation and password recovery.

Consult the Registered Email Address #

The personal email address associated with the account can be consulted:

• by accessing Identity and selecting the Private Email section;
• by accessing the portal Alice and following the path Menu → Home → Personal Data → Modify contact details.

Modify Email Address #

The email address can be modified by accessing the Identity Portal using the Alice credentials, or by accessing the Alice Portal and following this procedure:

1. access the reserved area;
2. open the menu at the top right;
3. select Home;
4. select Personal Data;
5. select Edit contact details in the section dedicated to contact information.

Students of Italian nationality #

To change the personal email address associated with Alice, students of Italian nationality can access the Identity Portal also via SPID or CIE.

Students of non-Italian nationality #

Students of non-Italian nationality, if they do not remember their Alice credentials, can request a change of personal email address using the form Change personal email – Request.
