Recipients #
Structured staff have an email account associated with an address of the type name.surname@unipi.it on the Microsoft Exchange server of UniPi.

Web Access #
Verify that it is possible to access the email via browser by connecting to the address https://unipi.it/webmail. If you encounter an authentication error, it is suggested to change your password on Identity.
Connection parameters for email programs in native Exchange mode #
Outlook programs (for Windows, MacOS, and mobile) and all programs that support native mode (some versions of Apple Mail and certain mobile device programs) must be configured according to these parameters:
- email: your email address (typically in the form first.last@unipi.it)
- server: ews.unipi.it (port 443 if it needs to be specified)
- user: university username with domain indication (typically in the form ADUNIPI\a012345)
Outlook for Android #
Add the account by entering your email and password when prompted.
If the automatic setup does not work, select the manual option (button ? at the top) and change the account to “Exchange”. At this point, you can enter the connection parameters for email clients in native Exchange mode.
Gmail for Android #
Add an “Exchange and Office 365” account by entering your email and password when prompted.
If the automatic setup does not work, select the manual option. At this point, you can enter the connection parameters for email clients in native Exchange mode. Accept all SSL/TLS certificates.
Mail for iPhone (Apple Mail) #
Add an “Exchange and Office 365” account by entering your email and password when prompted. Choose manual configuration and enter the connection parameters via native Exchange email clients.
IMAP and SMTP Connection Parameters #
Email clients that do not support native mode, such as Thunderbird, must be configured with the following parameters:
- email: your email address (typically in the form first.last@unipi.it)
- IMAP server: imap4.unipi.it port 143 STARTTLS
- SMTP server: submission.unipi.it port 587 STARTTLS
- user: university username (typically in the form a012345)
Thunderbird for Windows, Mac, and Linux #
Add an account with manual configuration and use the IMAP and SMTP connection parameters. It is recommended to not modify an existing profile, but to create an entirely new one after deleting or possibly renaming the old one.
