Thursday, January 30 2026 the University DNS servers will be modified. Following this intervention, the University email will be managed in the Cloud environment, where the mailboxes are located.
The operation will not require any action from users.
What changes
The main change concerns the management of spam:
- the previous anti-spam system (escc.unipi.it) will be decommissioned;
- spam messages will be delivered directly to the Spam folder of your mailbox.
Reporting spam messages
When receiving an unwanted message, you can inform the system in the following ways:
- Outlook and Webmail: use the reporting functions available in the Home menu;
- All users: drag the message to the Spam folder;
- Thunderbird (IMAP): indicate the Junk folder as the junk folder and use the application’s dedicated features.
Similarly, moving a message from the Junk folder to another folder will be interpreted by the system as an indication that the message is not spam. In Outlook and Webmail, dedicated commands are available in the toolbar.
Blocked senders and domains lists
The address books and blocked domains available on escc.unipi.it will not be migrated.
Users who use them are encouraged to save them in advance and reload them through the Webmail settings, in the Junk section, uploading the lists of trusted or blocked senders and domains.
Blocked message notifications
After the transition, the summary message of blocked messages in the last 24 hours will no longer be sent, as it will be sufficient to access the Junk folder to check for any filtered messages.
